Varza a la Cluj (Cabbage a la Cluj)
from Anamaria Galea, Romania
As part of Virtual Chef - Romania

• 1 and 1/2 cabbage
• 1 kg tomatoes
• 1 kg ground beef + ground mutton
• 1 cup of rice
• 2 onions
• 2 red peppers
• salt, pepper
• savory
• 20 ml olive oil
• 3 eggs
• 300 gr. Cream ( I guess sour cream)

How you make it:

Cut the cabbage in small pieces like spaghetti and the peppers too, then add some salt and paper. Mix the ground meat (both) with the eggs, salt, pepper, savory and the chopped onion. Cut the tomatoes in round slices.

In a pan pour the oil and then alternate the layers like this: one layer of tomatoes, one layer of cabbage, one layer of ground meat, one layer of rice. Repeat layers and finish with tomatoes.

Put the pan in the oven for aprox. An hour and a quarter. When almost cooked, mix in a separate bowl 300 gr.cream with an egg and pour it on top. Leave it for another 10+ minutes in the oven.
